The Juice Fountain Elite (Breville 800JEXL) Review
If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you’re interested in buying a centrifugal juicer and the Breville Juice Fountain range has caught your eye.
In this article, we’ll be providing an in-depth review of the Breville Juice Fountain Elite, covering everything you need to know from the key features to the pros and cons and the all-important pricing.
The Juice Fountain Elite (Breville 800JEXL): At a Glance
The Juice Fountain Elite is a 1000 watt juicer with 2 speed controls, high (13,000 RPM) and low (6,500 RPM).
The titanium-reinforced cutting disc is surrounded by an Italian-made micro-mesh filter that’s designed to extract up to 30 percent more juice and 40 percent more vitamins and minerals - so you can get the most out of your daily juice fix, both in terms of nutrients and volume of juice!
The juicer has an impressive die-cast steel housing that fits in with a range of kitchen styles, and a spacious, 3-inch feed tube to accommodate whole fruits and vegetables.
Cleaning is relatively easy as thanks to the Juice Fountain Elite’s dishwasher safe parts.
The Juice Fountain Elite (Breville 800JEXL): Key Features
The Juice Fountain Elite is easy to assemble and dismantle after use and comes with a 3”, extra-wide chute that accommodates a range of whole fruits and vegetables, eliminating the need for you to cut before juicing and speeding up the prep process.
The Juice Fountain Elite has a safety locking mechanism that does not allow operation unless it is in place, so you can rest assured that the juicer won’t start juicing until in the correct and safe position - which reduces the risk of any accidents.
It comes with a handy food pusher to help everything feed down the chute towards the blades, and has a simple 2-speed electronic control which is clearly labeled “low” for softer fruits, and “high” for harder vegetables. This way, you always know what speed to use depending on the type of fruit and veg you’re juicing.
One slight drawback of this juicer is the noise. It’s a little louder than we’d like, so if you’re looking for a juicer with ultra-quiet operation, the Juice Fountain Elite may not be for you. That said, it does create the juice extremely quickly, so the noise doesn’t last long.
Our eyes always light up with joy whenever we read the words “dishwasher safe”, as this makes the whole juicing process a lot easier.
After using the Juice Fountain Elite, disassemble the parts and rinse everything under the faucet. You can wash the parts by hand if you wish, or simply pop them on the top rack of your dishwasher for convenient cleaning.
The only thing to bear in mind is that the steel mesh strainer and food pusher aren’t dishwasher safe, so you’ll need to wash these by hand, ideally with a cleaning brush.
The strainer is always the hardest piece to clean of any juicer, and this is best washed in the sink so that you can remove any pulp or residue.
Washing the parts by hand will also keep them in better condition, as the dishwasher will take its toll on plastic parts after a while.
If washing by hand, simply allow the parts to air dry.
High Juice Quality
The Juice Fountain Elite has a titanium-reinforced disc and Italian-made micro mesh filter basket that’s made out of stainless steel. These have been designed to achieve optimum juice and nutrient extraction.
The Juice Fountain Elite definitely stands out in terms of yield. It has a patented system of central loading down the axis of the filter basket and through this, it is able to extract up to 30 percent more yield and 40 percent more nutrients compared to others on the market.
You’ll find there are small amounts of foam and oxidation caused by the juicing process, however, this is pretty normal with centrifugal juicers, and it produces a very high quality of juice and yields maximum nutrients despite the high speed.
The juice will last up to 24 hours if kept in a tightly-sealed, glass container.
While you can put any kind of fruit or vegetables in the Juice Fountain Elite, like other fast juicers, it’s not the most efficient when it comes to processing leafy greens.
One way around this, as explained by Juicing Journal, is to wrap the leafy greens around a harder vegetable such as a carrot.
Thanks to the wide chute, this juice maker can easily handle whole apples, creating the freshest and tastiest homemade apple juice.
The Juice Fountain Elite (Breville 800JEXL): Things to Consider
Pricing: is the Juice Fountain Elite worth it?
The Juice Fountain Elite is pretty expensive, hence the “elite” - which indicates that it’s pretty much a commercial-standard juicer.
Centrifugal juicers are great for efficiency, and the wide chute of the Juice Fountain Elite is perfect for allowing you to easily process whole fruits and vegetables to drastically reduce your prep time.
The Elite also takes juicing to the next level thanks to its central loading design which extracts up to 30 percent more yield and 40 percent more nutrients compared to others on the market.
However, if you’re looking to juice leafy greens then you’re better off shopping for a masticating juicer instead.
There’s also the noise level to consider. This juicer is pretty noisy, which is unsurprising considering it produces 1000 watts of power. All that speed has to come from somewhere!
Variety: What kind of juice can the Juice Fountain Elite make?
This juicer can handle dense vegetables and soft fruits such as citruses.
Dense produce is juiced using the faster speed setting and includes harder and thicker fruits and vegetables like apple, pear, pineapple, coconut, asparagus, broccoli, beets, watermelon, cucumber, yakon, garlic, cauliflower, celery, fennel, sweet potato, carrots, pepper, pumpkin, ginger and more.
Soft fruits or citrus fruits can be processed on the low-speed setting. These include tomato, mango, berries, kiwi, orange, lemon, mandarin, and more.
Feel free to put leafy greens and nuts in your Juice Fountain Elite, however, bear in mind that they may not be processed as well as dense vegetables and soft fruits.
Slow press juicers or masticating juicers are generally more effective for these.
However, there are a few tricks you can try to make leafy greens and nuts easier to blend.
For example, you can roll your leafy greens into one big spring roll, or wrap them around hard produce like a carrot. You could even place them between two hard vegetables like a sandwich.
